Privacy policy

GitHub Highlights is a static content site. There is no sign-up, there are no accounts, and no form on it collects personal details.

What is not collected

We do not ask for or store your name, email address, phone number or any other identifying detail. There are no tracking cookies, no advertising pixels, and nothing is shared with third parties for marketing.

What is stored in your browser

Accessibility preferences — text size, contrast and the rest — and your dark or light theme choice are kept in the browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are never sent to a server, and can be removed with the reset button in the accessibility menu or by clearing your browsing data.

Server logs

The server that hosts the site records requests the way any web server does: IP address, time, the page requested and the browser type. Those logs are used for operating the site and diagnosing faults, nothing else. They are not cross-referenced with other sources and are not used to build a profile.

Third-party services

Fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts a Google server when a page loads, which exposes your IP address to Google under its own policy. Links inside posts lead to external sites — GitHub above all — and once you follow one, that site's privacy policy applies.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version appears on this page. There is no mailing list to announce it through, so a material change will also be flagged on the home page.
